NAIDOC Week: Posters and Power (Thursday 9 July)
Learn all about how posters have been used through our history to share messages and promote social change. In this two-hour workshop for teens, you will hear from Museum researcher Jacinta Koolmatrie talk about 50 years of NAIDOC Week posters, before a visit to the Centre of Democracy for an exclusive tour with curator Amy Morrison about political posters and badges from South Australia's history. Each person will then get the chance to put their own powerful poster and badge together on a topic of their choice.
This workshop is for children aged 12-17 years. Parental supervision is optional. Booking is essential.

Mineral Illustration for Kids (Tuesday 14 July & Thursday 16 July)
Join us and get up close with some of the secrets of the South Australian Museum mineral collection. In this 90-minute workshop you will hear from Museum mineralogy staff about the wonders of the mineral world, learn how to identify and draw different mineral groups, see rare minerals up close which are not usually displayed, create a scientific illustration of a mineral of your choice and more.
This workshop is for children aged 7-12 years. Parental supervision is required. Booking is essential.

This fascinating exhibition brings together a rich and diverse survey of 74 outstanding works that invite us to think about our environment and our impact on the natural world. Witness this intersection of nature, science, and art before it closes at the South Australian Museum on 19 July 2026.

South Australian Museum Discovery Centre
The Discovery Centre is a special place for people of all ages to feed their curiosity with endless wonders to discover – like insects, fossils, meteorites and even a beehive. Located on Level 1 of the Museum, the Discovery Centre is open to the public from 10:30am to 2:30pm on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
