To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the South Australian Museum’s Science Centre Building, we’re opening the doors for a rare behind the scenes tour during National Science Week.
Explore the labs, collection spaces and working science areas usually closed to the public. Discover how our scientists study biodiversity, evolution and extinction, and learn about the specimens that help tell the story of life on Earth.
Tours will be run from Monday 11 to Friday 15 August 2025, with a number of 11am and 4pm sessions.
The tour will meet in the main foyer of the Museum 5 minutes prior to the start time. Your tour guide will then walk you through the back entrance of the Museum, to the Science Centre building about 100m away. The tour will run for 45 minutes.
Numbers are strictly limited to 15 people per tour.
Bookings essential. Cost is $6 per person with proceeds supporting the Museum's scientific work. A minimum age limit of 5 years is recommended for this tour.
