TICKETS

Tickets to the workshop my child wants to attend are sold out, can I put my child’s name on a waitlist?

Our ticketed events have a waitlist on the ticketing page.  Please follow the prompts to join the waitlist and be automatically notified if and when tickets become available.

General tickets to the workshop my child wants to attend are sold out.  I can see there are member tickets available, how can I book these if I am not a member?

You can purchase a member ticket and include the code SIGNMEUP in the membership number field in the checkout questions. You will then be contacted by the Museum’s membership team to purchase your membership prior to attending the workshop.

If you do not purchase a membership your ticket will be cancelled and the ticket price, less any booking fees, will be refunded to you via your original payment method.  Find out more about Museum membership here.

Do adults accompanying children to workshops need to buy a ticket too?

Accompanying adults do not need to buy a ticket.

AGE

Is my child the right age to join the workshop?
When booking tickets the workshop information generally provides an age range for the children that the activity is most suited to.

If you think your child would enjoy the workshop and is outside of the suggested age range you can still book a ticket at your own discretion but be aware that the accompanying adult may need to help their child with an activity if they are younger than the suggested age range, or an older child may not be as engaged with the activity if they are beyond the recommended age range.

If you would like to discuss whether your child would find the workshop suitable please email education@samuseum.sa.gov.au

SUPERVISION

Do I need to stay with my child during a school holiday workshop or activity?
Yes, you need to stay for the duration of the workshop as we are unable to supervise your children for you. Assistance from accompanying adults is usually not necessary but is welcome if you would like to get involved. Accompanying adults do not need to buy a ticket.

ACTIVITY BASICS

What does my child get to take home from the workshop?

Each activity is different but many of them have take-home items for workshop attendees to continue to enjoy. Items you may have made such as paintings, pots and other similar items can generally be taken home with you.

Please make sure you read the workshop details to understand whether your child will be able to take home the item they made from the activity you have booked.

Does my child need any background knowledge or skills to do the workshop?

Each activity is different, but school holiday workshops are designed to provide beginners with the opportunity to learn something new.  No prior knowledge is needed to take part in the workshop.

Does my child need to bring anything

Generally all workshop materials are provided.  Please check your ticket before attending to ensure no special instructions have been given.

What should my child wear?

Make sure your child is wearing something comfortable and suited to the activity they are doing. No special clothing is required for activities.
