Chamber Music Adelaide returns to Adelaide’s Cultural Boulevard along North Terrace, including the South Australian Museum, with On The Terrace, a free mini-festival pop-up series of concerts for all ages on Sunday 1 November.

Experience a day of vibrant music set among the Museum’s galleries, celebrating classical, contemporary and world music traditions.

All concerts are free and suitable for all ages. No bookings required.

 

Featured highlights include:

Unearthing Hidden Gems: Kegelstatt Ensemble
Anna Webb (viola), Anna Freer (violin), Cheryl Pickering (mezzo-soprano)

Kegelstatt Ensemble brings its 20-year history of uncovering hidden gems of chamber music, written for unusual and unexpected combinations of instruments, to the South Australian Museum's own collection of gems and minerals. Mezzo-soprano Cheryl Pickering joins the ensemble to perform a movement from Hindemith's Des Todes Tod, alongside Irish Songs by Rebecca Clarke.

Emerging Chamber Musicians: Recitals Australia

Recitals Australia brings four chamber combinations to On the Terrace, featuring some of South Australia's most promising emerging musicians as they develop their careers on the concert stage.

Windmills Saxophone Quartet
Siena Heffernan-Lucic (soprano sax), Imogen Gamble (alto sax), Paige Farrell (tenor sax), Hayden Scott (baritone sax)

The Windmills Saxophone Quartet, first and second-year Elder Conservatorium students, present a program from Baroque to Bernstein: Bozza's Andanteet Scherzo and extracts from Bernstein's West Side Story.

Songs of Social Justice: Poco Tutti

Poco Tutti is Tutti Arts' smaller choir of talented disabled and non-disabled singers, a choir that goes to the heart of our humanity, our sense of community, and our souls. A former headline act at the Desert Song Festival in Alice Springs, Poco Tutti brings songs of social justice to On the Terrace, including renditions of Joni Mitchell's Big Yellow Taxi and Guy Sebastian's Get Along.

Schmetterling Quartet
Jude Owens-Fleetwood (violin), Zoe Koerber (violin), Livia Sibly (viola), David Jansen (cello)

The Schmetterling Quartet, formed in 2026, presents two pieces marking a turning point in Romantic and French chamber music: Ravel's String Quartet in Fmajor and Schubert's "Rosamunde" Quartet.

Bach Dances & Chorales: Cornucopia (Horn Trio)
Emma Gregan, Philip Paine, Sam Peng

A little pocket of calm amid the festival bustle. Cornucopia brings a selection of dances and chorales from Bach's Jesu, Meine Freude, English Suites and French Suites, arranged for horn trio, graceful, lilting music for a quiet moment outdoors.
