Join us at the South Australian Museum for an awesome school holiday workshop just for ages 6 to 13! To celebrate the 2026 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year exhibition, we’re teaming up with Atkins Lab to bring you a super cool, one-hour session on making the most out of your smartphone camera.

You'll be shown all the tricks of the trade, from finding the best lighting to framing your shots like a pro. Then, you’ll get to try out these tips yourself while snapping pics inside our Discovery Centre. And here’s the best part: you can even talk to Atkins about having your favourite photo printed by the experts at Atkins Lab! Don’t miss out on this chance to boost your photography skills and have a blast while you’re at it!

Please note: this is a bring your own device activity. A smartphone or tablet is preferred, but other devices are welcome.

Important Information:

• This is a beginners workshop. No prior photography experience is required.
• Please bring your own device for taking photographs as the Museum is unable to provide one. Please make sure it is fully charged and ready for use. Each participant will need their own device.
• This workshop is aimed at children aged 6 to 13 years. All participants need a basic understanding of how to use their device's camera function and to be able to operate their device independently.
• An accompanying adult is required to stay with the participant for the duration of the workshop. Please note accompanying adults do not need a ticket.
• This workshop does not include entry to the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year exhibition. If you have purchased a ticket you will receive discounted entry to the workshop.
