The South Australian Museum is proud to showcase the 50 Years of Deadly: Moments & Movements exhibition, detailing the NAIDOC Week postersdating back to the commemoration’s inception in 1975. This collection honours the Elders who ignited powerful movements and the artists who transformed resistance into bold cultural expression.
Each poster in this exhibition represents a different era of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander activism, and captures themes around Women, Children, Elders and Families.
The Museum has also partnered with the Women’s and Children’s Hospital to present an accompanying video that will be displayed featuring Aboriginal voices speaking about what NAIDOC Week and 50 Years of Deadly means to them.
This exhibition is proudly curated by Jacinta Koolmatrie, Research Fellow, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture and Art, South Australian Museum.
